Salute for Style is a new Non-Profit organization provides Wear-to-Work wardrobes and professional workshop for women military heroes in transition for career success by reducing workplace inequalities. However, it is a new Non-profit organization, and not too many people recognizing the service that they are providing.

My Role: Idea generation, Design workflow management, Product definition and strategy, Stakeholder Presentation, UX research, Providing direction to the team, Usability Testing, Leading E-commerce Team, User Journeys.

Method/Tool: Google Business, Pinterest, Clothes Photos.

STatistics

There are significantly more suicides among military veterans than civilians.

The majority of military-serving organization focus on men, without specific service for women.

Persona

Lorena Velasquez

Age: 38. Location: Connecticut

Work: Housewife Family: Single. Gender: Female

Personality: Responsible, Loyalty, Caring, Low Confident, Kind.

Bio: Lorena is a retired Veteran who was suffering domestic violent, and depression while she was with her ex-husband. Currently she is divorced, but she need some income to support her, and three kids lives.

Frustration: Lorena has very tie budget to get a professional clothes because she has three kids need to take care. Since became a housewife for 5 years after she retired from military, she has no confident any job interview.

Goals: Lorena needs to get her feet back to the field. She need a professional clothes, and some career training, so she can find a job that can help her, and her family.

Before customer received the help from Salute for Style, they were very frustrated because they don't have a professional clothes to wear for job interview. They also have low confident looking for a job. After get help from us, they started building confident and eventually they will find a job, and earn some income to support their family.

Where to put clothes

The fashion team took many pictures of donation clothes, but how are we are going to put the clothes together, and attracted customer on line.

Google Business

We set up the Google business so it will attract more people seeing our company, and understand what service we are providing.

We use Pinterest to obtain inspiration as well as pilot our products on E-commerce and receive feedback from customers.

Outcome

Once when we launch the pictures on the Pinterest, and set up the Google Business, we have 5.1K impressions in the first three days on Pinterest. This is a great success! It is not only makes more people recognized us but all of hard work has been paid!

Learning

I am very glad that I joined team here. In this six month I learned how non-profit organization operate. I also learned how new business established and attract customers. This is a fantastic journey, and I am continue working on it.
